Kasey Cooper, Kaylee Carlson, Carlee Wallace and Alyssa Rivera are all being honored by the league’s head coaches. Cooper, last year’s SEC Player of the Year, was named SEC Scholar-Athlete of the year. Carlson and Wallace garnered first team honors; and Rivera earned All-Freshman Team recognition. Cooper, Carlson and Wallace were also named to the SEC All-Defensive Team. The four players matches the program record set in 2005 and matched in 2015. Cooper, is a senior mechanical engineering major w/ a 3.98 GPA and is also a nominee for the Senior CLASS Award. She became the SEC’s all-time career RBI leader when she passed Charlotte Morgan with a two-run home run against Mississippi State on May 30th. Carlson is just the second pitcher in program history to be named all-conference, joining Kristen Keyes in 2004. The junior right-hander led the SEC with 25 wins and finished the season with a 1.17 ERA and four saves. Freshman Alyssa Rivera led Auburn with a .379 batting average, hitting three home runs and driving in 25 runs. Auburn, which moved up to No. 7 in the polls after winning a series over Alabama in Tuscaloosa for the first time in program history, is the No. 2 seed in this week’s SEC Tournament in Knoxville, Tenn. The Tigers will play Tomorrow at 4 & will take on the winner of today’s Kentucky-South Carolina game.
