The Auburn softball team can earn a third straight trip to the Women’s College World Series in Oklahoma City without ever leaving home. The Tigers were among the eight national seeds in the NCAA Tournament announced by the Division I Softball Committee during Sunday’s selection show, meaning Auburn will host both a Regional and — should it advance — a Super Regional. Auburn was named the No. 7 seed in the tournament and will open postseason play against East Tenn State Friday at 3:30 p.m. on ESPNU. Notre Dame and Cal will play the first game at 1 p.m. on ESPN2. With a win Auburn would face the winner of No. 10 Oklahoma’s region, which also includes Tulsa, North Dakota State and Arkansas. Auburn and Oklahoma met in the finals of the WCWS last season, with the Sooners taking two out of three to win the title. This year, only one of the two will be able to make it back to Oklahoma City. Florida earned the top overall seed, with Alabama coming in at No. 16. All 13 SEC teams made the 64-team field for the first time in history.
