Join us each month for a night of science, good drinks, tasty sweets, and great conversations! At the AU Science Cafe and Science Pub, you’ll have the opportunity to sit down and talk about new and exciting science and technology with scientists in our community, all the while relaxing in a great local food and drink venue. The event is FREE and open to all of the public. No science background is required, and no question is too silly to ask! This 60 minute event generally occurs the 4th Tuesday (Science Cafe) or Thursday (Science Pub) of each month, alternating between our Pub and Cafe locations every month. All ages are welcome to attend both events. Sodas are also available for purchase at the Science Pub location. See our schedule below for our next speaker and further details. For any other questions, or if you are interested in being a Science Cafe or Science Pub speaker, please contact Josh King at firstname.lastname@example.org or 334-734-1182.What if you could point your iPhone at an animal and immediately know what species it was? What if you could sequence its genome from your Android? And what if you could track rare and endangered species without even having to change from your comfy clothes? Join us for a very special Science Café at the Jule Collins Smith Museum of Fine Art where Dr. Sarah Zohdy will show us how these technologies are actually current realities, some of which you can use right now. We’ll embark on a journey of biological observation from the old days of Audubon’s paper and pencil to the current world of smartphones, drones, and digital. Stick around afterwards to see the intersection of art and science from works by the famous John James Audubon in the museum’s new exhibit! This is a Science Café you don’t want to miss!
