The Macon County School System says it will have regularly scheduled classes today, a day after a ‘credible threat’ forced every public school and a private school to close. Sheriff Andre Brunson received a call yesterday morning from Watch Center, an agency that monitors social media for threatening posts. That agency found a post that was deemed “credible and severe”. Brunson and Macon County Superintendent Dr. Jacqueline Brooks said the decision to close schools was a no-brainer and added that school would not resume until they were sure the threat is no longer imminent and the person responsible is in custody. Despite reopening this morning, it’s unclear if an arrest has been made.
